- I cut out everything at once. I panicked and dropped dozens of foods — and ended up stressed, hungry and running on empty. Simple and gradual works far better.
- I went hunting for "the one culprit". I'd spend hours wondering what single thing had ruined my day, when really it was the sum of it all (the bucket).
- I wrote nothing down. The patterns only showed up once I started keeping a journal.
- I ignored sleep and stress. I thought it was only about food.
- I believed one slip-up ruined everything. It doesn't. A bad day passes; tomorrow the bucket empties out again.
If you're just starting out: breathe. You don't have to fix everything today. One small, steady step beats panic every time.
A practical trick: if you're just starting out, don't change ten things at once. Pick a single one this week — say, take out one problem food — and watch what happens. Small changes, one at a time, show up clearly in your journal; a flood of changes all at once just leaves you confused.
