Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

The things people ask me most about HIT and about MyHistamate. Short and honest.

What is histamine intolerance (HIT)?

In short, it's the body struggling to break histamine down as fast as it takes it in. When too much builds up, all sorts of reactions can show up. I'm not a doctor and I don't explain it by the textbook — on the site you'll find how I came to understand it, from experience.

If you want a gentle introduction, start with The histamine bucket, explained simply. For a diagnosis and medical questions, see a specialist.

Does MyHistamate give medical advice?

No. Everything I write reflects my own personal experience with HIT and is for information only. It's not a substitute for seeing a doctor. For a diagnosis, treatment or changes to your diet, talk to a specialist.

Who's behind MyHistamate?

I'm Cătălina. I have histamine intolerance, and I started MyHistamate to gather, in one place, everything I wish I'd found at the start. I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist — I'm a person living with HIT.

What's on the site?

Articles written from experience, free PDF guides and a newsletter. Soon, an app that automatically does part of the work I now do by hand.

Are the guides really free?

Yes. You leave your email and you get the guide. I also add you to the list so I can write when something new comes out — you can unsubscribe anytime.

Is there an app?

I'm working on it. It's not ready yet, but if you'd like to be among the first to test it, you can join the waiting list.

How often will I get emails if I subscribe?

No fixed schedule and no spam. I write when I publish something new or find something that genuinely helps. You can unsubscribe anytime.

What languages is the site in?

Romanian (myhistamate.ro) and English (myhistamate.com). The content is the same, in the right language.

How do I contact you?

Write to me at hello@myhistamate.com. I read everything.

Didn't find your answer?
